Who We Are

Blue Sky Disaster Relief is a non-profit, charitable organization that that assembles and distributes severe weather relief kits.

Blue Sky was founded by a Dallas teenager who was hiding in his bedroom with his dad and dog when a heavy storm turned into tornado and tore apart their home in less than 10 minutes.

They didn't have a place to stay or a way to navigate through the dark night and downed trees, but they did have each other. The only room that wasn't damaged was the one they accidentally picked.

The next day as they dug through broken glass and piles of fallen roof to salvage personal belongings, they felt vulnerable and lost... but also inspired by help from friends and the bright blue clear sky above.  They were the lucky ones.

Today, Blue Sky Disaster Relief has many volunteers who work together to help teens and their families be more resilient to severe weather. So far, our efforts have helped families become stronger through tornadoes, wildfires, and hurricanes in four states.
